Master in Administration of Islamic Law

Objectives

  • To provide opportunity for graduates with relevant working experience to acquire knowledge and training for a career in the Syariah judicial and legal services.
  • To train executives desiring specialization in administration of Islamic law in order to assist in the effective and efficient administration of Islamic law in any Muslim country and outside the Muslim world.
  • To provide opportunity for fresh graduates in related disciplines to pursue a Postgraduate Degree in Administration of Islamic law in order to prepare them to enter into job market specically in the Syariah judicial and legal services.
  • To assist the country in developing workforce with expert knowledge, relevant and up-to-date information about contemporary and emergent theoretical, empirical and policy related developments in the field of Islamic law.
  • To provide the platform and opportunity to enhance or to update their existing professional or vocational qualications in a fast-moving world. This is for professionals and practitioners who may already have appropriate qualications and experience in the field of Islamic Law;
  • To offer courses to produce work force that can demonstrate mastery of the various aspects on administration Islamic Law with ability to view them from the conventional and Islamic perspectives; with ability to comprehend, analyze and solve various legal problems at the national and global levels.
  • To provide adequate grounding in legal research skills and training which will be useful for those wishing to practice in the field of business and corporate sector where knowledge of an expert, relevant and up-to-date information about contemporary and emergent theoretical, empirical and policy related developments in the field of administration of Islamic Law are essential. The adequate trainings and skills imparted will enable conducting of legal research to promote efficient development of administration of Shari‘ah courts and legal services.
  • To have the opportunity to enhance or to update their existing professional or vocational qualications in a fast-moving policy arena.This is for professionals and practitioners who may already have appropriate qualications and experience in the field of administration of Islamic Law. This will assist them in identifying and applying the correct Shari‘ah principles for promoting implementation of Islamic Law in varied circumstances and the changing needs of any country.

Duration : 1 ½ years – 3 Semester (Full Time)
Class Schedule : Thursday (5.30pm – 9.00pm),
Friday (5.30pm – 9.00pm)
Saturday (9am – 5.30pm)

Duration : 3 Years – 5 Semester (Part time)
Class Schedule : 9.00 am – 5.30 pm (Saturday)

Entry Requirements

  1. LL.B with 1 year working experience in the related field OR
  2. Other degree with 3 years working experience in the related field OR
  3. Any other equal qualication approved by the kulliyyah

English Prociency

  1. Produce satisfactory proof of prociency of English language either Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) with scoreof 600 or test administered by the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) with score of 6.0, OR
  2. Under special circumstances, an applicant who is unable to present the required TOEFL or IELTS score shall be required to sit and pass the IIUM-administered English Placement Test. (EPT). The minimum score for EPT is 6.0, OR
  3. Provide proof of attendance or prior education in English-medium institutions that may be exempted from the requirement of TOEFL, IELTS and EPT at the discretion of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws postgraduate Admissions committee.

Arabic Prociency

  1. Applicants must achieve an exemption after sitting for the IIUM-administered Arabic Placement Test (APT).
