GOAL
To achieve a skilled and outward-looking TVET environment for he future with strong and capable leaders

PURPOSE

  • To increase the knowledge and vision of those who work in leadership and implementor / delivery roles in TVET sector.
  • The TVET Seminar is an opportunity for TVET stakeholders to explore the diverse nature of TVET in and development for the future context.
  • The concepts of being future-focused, creating sustainable capacity and engaging leadership all underpin the seminar that will empower participants to become successful in the TVET arena.

    1. Seminar Theme : Building Capability – Leading TVET into the Future
    The Seminar will focus one and not more than two major current issues in VET such as governance, administration, finance, delivery including different levels of VET, evaluation, teacher training, ICT, lifelong learning, poverty alleviation, linkage with general education, etc.

    Day 1 : 3 Topics

    Topic 1 : Vocational vs Academic

    • Principles of Vocational education
    • Academics – where does it fit in TVET

    Topic 2 : Understanding your learner (HBDI – pedagogical into learner styles through brain)

    • How the brain effects learning
    • The whole brain model

    Topic 3 : Creative Development for the future within TVET (effective design and delivery)

    • Identifying project based learning
    • The future of online learning in TVET education
    • Using flipped classroom in the TVET environment
    Topic 4 : Effective Presentations within TVET (what your body language says about you and how to maintain positive interaction)

    Day 2 : Comprise 3 Topics

    Topic 5 : Quality Assurance for a sustainable future (standards, benchmarks assessment and materials)

    • Setting industry benchmarks
    • Setting competency standards
    • Creating sustainable assessment practices
    • Creating sustainable practices for material moderation
    Topic 6 : Leading self and others (sustainable leadership Skills approach, Coaching approach, Experience approach)

    Topic 7 : Recognition of experience bringing the present to the future (RPL and integration how to do it well)
